"It's National Yoga Day!" said my friend Adrian, trying to make attending a downtown hot yoga class seem appealing. I had only gone to a few yoga classes at various gyms and so say it wasn't my jam, would be putting it nicely.
"IDK, I feel like yoga is just sitting in awkward positions, being told by some lady to deepen into it and make it more awkward."
"You'll love this class!" Adrian assured.
I.Loved.It
After an amazing class that had somehow to my embarrassment nearly brought me to tears. I knew I wanted yoga to be accessible to me every day. Within a couple weeks I had done some research, called my yoga instructing Aunt Chelsea, and signed up to become certified myself.
I loved how working the body calmed the mind. I loved how the practice got my blood and oxygen pumping! I loved being able to have a hollowed out space to refocus my spastic brain.
Yoga is awesome for your body. The strength, the balance and the connection enhanced by yoga are excellent for people: young and old. The effects yoga practices and principles can have on harnessing anxiety, depression, trauma, scattered thoughts, and unhealthy thoughts can be extraordinary.
I hope to be able to share these treasured attributes with you! Breath deep, Babe. I'll see you on your mat.
Namaste.
